Adoption Application

In order to ensure that our pets are matched with the best homes possible, and in order to be eligible to adopt an animal, you must fill out an adoption application.  Please specify the pet you are interested in.  If you are flexible, please note that as well.

When the application is approved and you have confirmed your intent to adopt, you will be asked for an adoption fee, which goes toward any medical and housing costs incurred by the animal.

All adopted animals can be released to their new home once they’ve received their first set of vaccines and a clean bill of health, unless noted. Once an adopted animal leaves the adoption program, all future medical attention becomes the sole responsibility of the new owner.

Cats and kittens will be tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia, given rabies and distemper vaccines, and started on worming medication. Young kittens often need additional distemper and Leukemia boosters. All cats go home spayed or neutered.

Dogs will be tested for heart worm disease. If negative, they will be given rabies, distemper, and kennel cough vaccines. As with kittens, puppies will be sent home with the vaccines they are old enough to receive, and all future medical needs are the sole responsibility of the owner.

All other animals adopted through Happy Tails Pet Rescue will receive a physical exam prior to release to their adopted home.
